Wang Lei, a leading medical figure in Guangdong Province, has worked hard for decades for the sake of his beloved medical career. Wang Lei, born in April 1969, is a member of the Communist Party of China. During his lifetime, he was the deputy director of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, director of the Third District of Colorectal Surgery Department, and an expert who enjoys special allowances from the State Council. He started working since July 1992 and has been in medical care for nearly 30 years.
As the main accomplisher, he won the first prize of Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progress in 2007, 2011 and 2018, the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress in 2016, and also won the honorary titles of Experts in Special Allowances of the State Council and the Ministry of Education’s New Century Outstanding Talent.
A year ago, Wang Lei was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer, and his spleen, Babaylan80% of the pancreas, part of the stomach and most of the nerves near the intestines were cut off, and 80% of the nutrition could only be maintained by infusion.

Since then, the diagnosis and treatment of radioprotic Activitis patients have real evidence; at the American Clinical Oncology Conference, he gave a sick body to nearly 10,000 tumor experts from around the world the only colorectal cancer report in the digestive tract from China.
Wang Lei said that it is not something he can choose to suffer from cancer. He can only choose to live well every day and make some contributions to the country as much as he can. “Although I can’t extend the length of my life, I can dominate the thickness of my life.”
Experts in the field of “unpopular research”
People who are familiar with Wang Lei say that he is a doctor, and his kindness puts patients first in everything.
The outpatient and inpatient patients he has been treated with difficult and complicated diseases, with more than 4,000 people each year. He founded the largest radioactive enteritis diagnosis and treatment center in China, and the number of patients hospitalized with radioprotic dysfunction is among the highest in China. Many patients came from outside the province and city and regained their health in his Komiks.
He is a teacher and takes talent cultivation as his responsibility. So far, he has trained 16 graduate students, including 11 doctoral students and 5 master students. The students he trained have all become the best in his respective fields.
Inspired by him, over the past five years, his students have published nearly 100 SCI papers in world-renowned journals such as Cancer Cell and Gastroenterology, more than 30 Chinese core journals, 3 monographs edited and translated, 8 monographs participated in the editing and obtained 5 patents. He is an explorer. He pays attention to the radioactive damage caused by radiotherapy to patients with rectal cancer. Others do not pay attention to it. The original new proximal enlargement resection of rectal cancer, the “Tianhe Technique”, has attracted great attention from the medical community.
He has successively conducted related research on the prevention and diagnosis and treatment of rectal radioactive injuries, the improvement of rectal cancer surgical methods, and the early screening of colorectal cancer, assisted in the development of a new product for intestinal cancer screening, created two new bowel cancer surgery methods, and formulated two sets of treatment plans and 3 technologies for intestinal cancer and radioactive injuries, effectively promoting the development of domestic colorectal cancer prevention and diagnosis and treatment technology.

He is an entrepreneur, deeply grateful to the country, and worked hard to build a modern Grade A hospital.
After studying for Dr. Komiks in the United States for 3 and a half years, he spent every day in the laboratory, and went at the earliest and the latest every day, staying for more than ten hours. He never returned to his country while studying for his PhD in the United States.
After returning to China, starting from 2007, Wang Lei and more than 30 colleagues went to Tianhe District, Guangzhou City, and took root in a nine-story simple building, becoming the “destroyed cattle” of the founding of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.
From the department director, assistant director to the vice president, he has always insisted on getting to the hospital at 7 a.m. and going home at 10 p.m. He spends much more time at the hospital than at home.
Wang Lei has successively managed scientific research, teaching, personnel, logistics, information and clinical work, presided over the investment plan of the Guangzhou Information Benefiting the People’s National Pilot City Demonstration Project, took the lead in launching comprehensive assistance with gastrointestinal diagnosis and treatment services in 62 county-level hospitals in Guangdong Province, and created a national clinical drug research base. Each work was completed extremely well.
